Roundtable: Protecting Migrant Workers in the Supply Chain

January 22nd 2010

IBLF, IHRB and the Ethical Trading Initiative

The Business and Migration Initiative, a partnership programme of the Institute for Human Rights and Business and the International Business Leaders Forum, is co-hosting a roundtable 'Protecting Migrant Workers in the Supply Chain' with the Ethical Trading Initiative.

This business-led roundtable, taking place on March 24th 2010, will explore the opportunities and challenges in the employment of migrant workers in retail and clothing supply chains.

Several retailers have expressed a need to address risk mitigation strategies with respect to recruiting and protecting migrant workers. We will explore ways in which companies can work collectively as well as collaborating with government and civil society to identify solutions in their own supply chains and to influence global policy.

David Arkless, President of Global Corporate and Government Affairs, Manpower Inc. and Lesley Roberts, Director, Corporate Responsibility, Pentland Group are key sponsors of this programme and will be leading sessions at the workshop to consider the challenge for business to improve migration management systems and exercise business leadership in improving migrant worker protection.

The event is limited in numbers and by invitation only. For any queries, please contact Neill Wilkins, Project Coordinator at .
